A blog about what daily life was really like in the Middle East and the daily ramblings of an ex-pat mum. That's how I started the blog. We are now home, so I'm just going to continue with life here. I am a deeply committed Christian. I love to teach about and share my faith so you'll see some of that on the blog as well. Got a comment? Please feel to comment at the end of a post. May our Creator's peace be upon you.

Lazy Friday

Well, it begins. My first time to post a blog. My hubby is cleaning the yuck out of the AC of my preferred mode of transport, the munchin are vegging in front of their electronic devices, and the beach beckons.
We are now, finally, full residents of where we reside. The final hang-up was getting the proper documentation to prove we've actually been married for, like, forever. Sigh.....never mind that I have the munchin who look vaguely like the hubby. But, the one trip out of the country that we had to make to renew the visitor visas was so worth it. Awesome coast, and fabulous 4x4 driving. Gotta go back with a wet suit.
Later, at high tide, we're going to test out the new underwater camera housing. I may even try to post fish pics if I can get any.
Missed our worship time/place of choice this morning. The head in the master bath is messed up yet again. First, it wouldn't take what we put in it. Now, it sucks all the water out within seconds. Because all the water gets sucked out, we've had 'sewer' gases and funny little flies enjoying my spacious master bath. Two plumbing/maintenance guys came to our door this morning (why we missed worship time), and proclaimed that they did not have the part and would be back tomorrow. Apparently, when the head in question was installed, an important part was not installed under it connecting it to the sewer line. Eewww. Yuck. I'm grateful that I live in a 'luxury' building. I can't imagine what other less costly places would be like.
Munchin/Munchkin #1 has just brought in a new Lego creation. He informed me yesterday that he just KNOWS that the scientists/engineers who design and build things like the U.S. space shuttle began with things like Legos.
Munchkin #2 has just informed me that food is required (the homemade chocolate chip cookies were immediately suggested by Munchkin #2 as an excellent way to fulfill this requirement). Daisy Rat is currently lounging on Munchkin #2's shoulder. They make quite a pair. Munchkin #2 informed me yesterday that when she grows up she wants to study "The Earth". I asked her what specifically she'd like to study. The animals, the rocks, what? The reply back was, "Everything. I want to know HOW the earth was created. Where did the animals come from? How did we get rocks? Just, everything."
And.....a bit of recommended reading: Just read the Time magazine article by John Cloud "Failing our Geniuses." Wow. Talk about an article going against the flow, but oh so true. When I did my student teaching, I was required to use 'groups' where basically the high achievers helped the low achievers. It didn't work. All the students, for various reasons, seemed to just suffer through the experience. Ok, time for a chocolate chip cookie. And, if you know anyone who you think my like to have access to my posts/rants, send me an email.
