A blog about what daily life was really like in the Middle East and the daily ramblings of an ex-pat mum. That's how I started the blog. We are now home, so I'm just going to continue with life here. I am a deeply committed Christian. I love to teach about and share my faith so you'll see some of that on the blog as well. Got a comment? Please feel to comment at the end of a post. May our Creator's peace be upon you.

Ramadan begins

Well, Ramadan begins. Here's the link to a newspaper website from the area: http://www.gulfnews.com/nation/Heritage_and_Culture/10153084.html
Interesting stuff. I saw an add/billboard kind of thing, advertising Kentucky Fried Chicken. It was basically saying, "Break the fast in the evening as a family over a bucket of KFC" (or something like that. That was the idea portrayed). That is not a marketing angle I'm used to seeing any place other than here. Actually, some KFC is sounding good to me right now. I need to go make dinner. I get home from work, think about chores, have a snack, think about chores some more, and flop down in front of the computer. I guess I should go make dinner AND do some chores. Peace everyone.

Ok, one more bit. Here's a link to the 'meaning' of the expression Ramadan Kareem/Kariim. You see and hear this expression everywhere in the region this time of the calendar.

Yet again, peace everyone.
