Our family has experienced some major changes since my last post. The first change was the husband's maternal grandfather has passed from this life into the next. The second change was my paternal grandmother passed from this life into the next about 24 hours ago now. When my father called me to tell me the news, I was standing in the middle of the 'push and shove' in the produce department at the grocery store. Suddenly, the whole 'push and shove' disappeared. It was just me and Dad and the phone. It is not a moment I am likely to forget any time soon.
Losing loved ones is hard. Period. Full-stop. Yes, it is a bit easier if it is someone who has lived a very full life. But, it is still hard. I will always treasure the time I got to spend with my grandmother. It was a very unique relationship. She and I actually grew closer the older we both became. She was not only my grandmother; she was a very good friend.
It is amazing to me. With all the chaos going on across the Middle East, the most important news of the day is the details surrounding the passing of our grandparents. For a brief moment, my sphere of interest has tightened up a bit.
Stay safe, have a plan in place, and appreciate every moment of every day with those you love.
Peace.
