A blog about what daily life was really like in the Middle East and the daily ramblings of an ex-pat mum. That's how I started the blog. We are now home, so I'm just going to continue with life here. I am a deeply committed Christian. I love to teach about and share my faith so you'll see some of that on the blog as well. Got a comment? Please feel to comment at the end of a post. For the love of dogs

Photo: Jesse tucked in for a long winter's nap

Well, here is Jesse all curled up for night night time.  She and I are both finding it difficult some evenings to stay warm.  Jesse and I both curl up with fleece blankets.  I'm so used to a warmer climate at this point that I even use a fleece blanket in lieu of a top bed sheet.  I stay a lot warmer that way. Max Kitty is similar.  We sometimes have to dig through our throw blankets to find him.  He burrows into the blankets just like a little bunny.  We'll see how we all adjust over time.

One of the joys of being home is Munchkin #1 now has kids to hang out with here in the neighborhood.  There's a sloped grassy area near the house where the kids like to play.  Last night, my son and some neighborhood kids brought to our house a very cute fat beagle dog. She was very sweet and very scared.

We kept the little pooch for the night. She was so scared.  She whimpered and cried off and on through the night.  This morning, I took her into our veterinarian to have her scanned for a microchip. And, hallelujah (or hum dil allah!), she had a chip!  The microchip people said there was no answer on the cell phone listed and the land line had been disconnected.  So.....I took the pup to her home since it was only a block away from mine.  She got safely home, but I was so surprised that her owner wasn't frantic looking for her.  If Jesse or Max were ever lost, I don't know if I would even be able to sleep.  I even registered Jesse and Max's microchips in the United States before I even left Dubai.

Through the whole thing, this poor little beagle suffered. She was so scared.  She had no idea what was happening to her.

If you own a dog or a cat, please keep a collar and tags on them at all times even if they are totally indoors.  And have them microchipped.  These are simple things and can save your pet. Many pets are lost when they dash outside without a collar/tags on.  Keep 'em collared and tagged.

Peace.
